On Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6th we held our spring Guide for a Day event. We had Thirteen guest attend. Unfortunately, fishing was very tough and only three fish were caught.
Club member Barry Wesley cooked up a fantastic evening meal on both nights that included grilled steaks, corn on the cob, baked beans, spinach salad and cookies for dessert. The meal alone was worth the trip.
On Saturday, October 20th we held our fall Guide for a Day event. A total of six fish were caught, with the fish of day being a 46” beauty CPR’rd by guest Judd Stover.
Once again, club member Barry Wesley cooked up an excellent meal. This time it consisted of roasted pork loin, tossed salad, scalloped potatoes, cake and pie. We all needed a nap after eating. |

Shawnee Muskie Hunters Guide for a Day
Each year, we have a spring and a fall Guide for a Day event. The spring event takes place on 15 May 2010. The fall event takes place on 16 October 2010. Both events are held on beautiful Lake Kinkaid near Murphysboro, IL. Participates meet at the Paul Ice Boat Ramp & Recreational Area. Fishing time is 8:00 A.M till 4:00 P.M each day. A dinner is provided after the guided trip. This is a great opportunity to fish a nice lake with a knowledgeable club member and learn about musky angling tools and techniques — all for a very modest price. Proceeds from this event go towards programs that improve the quality of Muskie fishing.
