Text Box: Catch - Photo - Release Text Box: Procedures For Reporting A Tagged Fish Text Box: Remember Check Those Fish For ID Tags Club member Dane Garrett sent us this photo from the Spring Warm Up Tournament. After looking at the photograph numerous times, something caught Dane’s eye. Take a close look at the dorsal fin area of the fish and you’ll notice something interesting, a small, moss covered ID tag.

Here is a quick reminder of what to do if you catch a Muskie with an Illinois DNR ID tag.

 

Call Shawn Hirst at (618) 687- 4546 (disregard any other phone number found on the tag other than this one) with the following information:

 

1)          The 5 digit tag number (example tag number 23 will appear as 00023). Sometimes the tags are covered with algae that can be removed using a fingernail or knife blade.

 

2) Date of catch

 

3) Length of fish if possible

 

DO NOT REMOVE THE TAG !
