Shawnee Muskie Hunters Minutes of Meeting January 14, 2008
After meeting at the Collinsville, Il. Ponderosa restaurant, the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs moved the meeting to Walt Krause’s home in Collinsville, the meeting commenced at 7:50pm called to order by President Santa Cruz. An addition to the 2008 tournaments held was discussed to include two (2) $125. prizes to be awarded from a drawing of all registered fish caught during the tournament. Further details will be found on the tournament entry forms in the future. The current Treasurer’s Report dated Jan. 13, 2008 was forwarded to members by retiring Treasurer Carrie Owens. Bank balances as of the end of Dec. 2007 were: The Bank of Carbondale - $$3,126.27, The First Bank of Murphysboro - $9,075.35. The next order of business was the 2008 Calendar of Events for the Chapter. The following is what was discussed: Jan. 4,5,6 Let’s Go Fishing Show Collinsville Jan.26 After Holiday Dinner 7pm Ravanelli’s Collinsville Feb. 6 – 10 St. Louis Boat Show Feb. 23 SMH Chapter Meeting, Cabala's St. Louis 5pm March 8 Border War Chapter Challenge / Pomme & SMH Held at Kinkaid Lake (limited to first 25 teams) March 29 SMH Awards Banquet 6:30pm Mississippi Flyway in Carbondale, Il. April 5 MI Annual Spring Board Meeting, Green Bay, Wis. April 12 Annual Lake Kinkaid Clean Up and Members Meeting & lunch following details to follow April 25,26,27 Muskie University Southern Style, Kinkaid Lake May 3, 4 SMH Annual Spring Warm Up Tournament Kinkaid Lake May 16-18 SMH Prairie Lake Outing June 7 Kid’s Day Outing Lake Murphysboro Aug. 16 SMH Outing Shelbyville, below the dam, picnic at noon Sept. 20-27 Gil Hamm Chapter Challenge Cass Lake, MN. Sept. 27 SMH Outing at Shelbyville Lake Oct. 18-19 Guide for a Day Kinkaid Lake at Paul Ice Oct. 25-26 SMH Fall Brawl Tournament Kinkaid Lake Nov. 1-2 IMTT Classic at Kinkaid Lake (for qualifying Members) Nov. 8 Veterans Day Fishing Event Kinkaid Lake December SMH meeting and election nominations ? Note: There are other activities coming, such as Walt’s lectures at Bass Pro or Cabala's where we can have a table for handouts etc., Sept. 13 and IDNR Patriot Day event in E. St. Louis, possible Pomme/SMH mtg. and pool demo in St. Louis in July. Once we have the dates we can add them to the list. The board discussed the agenda for the upcoming MI Spring Board Meeting and the changes to the organization being suggested. The board agreed to send the RVP to this meeting and fund the trip. Jim requested funding for June’s Kid’s Fishing Day and was approved. Discussion concerning further advertising and promotion of the Muskie University scheduled in April with concerns expressed that we exceed the break even number of attendee. The board discussed inviting Juris Ozols, MI photographer to give a lecture at the Awards Banquet, to cover his travel expense and lodging for two nights, this expense was approved. Steve to contact & invite Juris for this event. It was also decided to ask Larry to do a presentation at the Awards Banquet and to present the prizes for the 2007 Member Incentive Program. Other items discussed: Manuel to contact Barry Wesley to make dinner arrangements for the Pomme/ SMH Chapter Challenge at the Boathouse restaurant. Manuel will make arrangements to have a jacket made for the winners of this event. Further contact needed for arrangements for the Kinkaid Lake Clean Up with the owner of the Kinkaid Marina to finalize this event. Steve to change the list of officers listed on the MI website. Steve to contact MI’s Fred Brogle to change chapter email contact person to Walt Krause, our new RVP. The board discussed future club outings at different area lakes such as Shelbyville, Otter, Staunton, & Pana. 11pm meeting adjourned. Many thanks for Walt’s hospitality for having the meeting at his home. Some things missed last night in the meeting. It ran late and maybe this is why we forgot to discuss. 1.
