The festivities started with registration and a hot Italian dinner and salad Friday evening at the Murphysboro Americas Best Value Inn. The 7 a.m. start came around quick Saturday morning with 35 boats lined up and ready to go. Unfortunately the fish did not cooperate and not a single fish found it’s way to a net. All anglers fought some early showers and high winds throughout the day making fishing really tough. On top of that, the water conditions were challenging. The anglers had to deal with high water, dark muddy water. This year we opted for an early dinner served at the Kinkaid Village Marina. We enjoyed fried chicken and Salisbury steak with all the fixings. After dinner the club put on a raffle and food drive to help raise money for the club and the local food bank. Thankfully, Sunday’s results where a little better with a total of 5 fish caught. The day started with fair weather that slowly turned to rain. Four teams were able to put fish in the boat. The tournament paid out to 5 places so the remaining award was presented by drawing giving all teams an opportunity to take home some cash. Harry Banks took big fish honors with a nice 39.5” muskie and took the two day cash prize home Thanks again to everyone who attended the Spring Fling and to the Shawnee Muskie Hunters Chapter 28 club for their hard work making this a top notch tournament. FINAL RESULTS 1st Place: Jay Bodanick and Aaron Glossop (36.5 and 34) 2nd Place: Harry Banks and Robert Sulzberger (39.5 - Big Fish) 3rd Place: Gerald Larson and Brian Wienski (37.75) 4th Place: Jim Ashton and Rich Wagner (34.5) 5th Place: By Drawing

The Fall Brawl tournament was held on the 23rd and 24th of October and had an extremely good turn out of 42 boats with 41 fish caught.  The big fish for the tournament went to James Dingus with a beautiful 48” incher (Way to go James!!!!) I believe also we had our very first Husband & Wife first place Winner of Jean & Kevin Williams.  Our very own President, Manuel Santa Cruz watched and witness  2 of their 4 fish.  They  were really on track catching fish ( Great Job Guys ).   The 3rd Place winner went to Bev & Dane Garrett, our first participating mother & son team.  Rumor has it that Bev was overheard saying “I carried you for 9 months, the least you could do is carry me for two days.”  Bev did an outstanding job for her first Muskie Tournament. (Way to go Bev hope to see you again)!!!!
